2 x Academic Mentor positions available in school
Academic mentors - temporary roles in school
Do you know someone who is interested in providing support to children in years 5 and 6, working with them to help catch up following the COVID lockdown last academic year?
The government is funding the Academic mentor programme throughout many schools in the Wakefield district. If you have the subject knowledge and aptitude to help children at the older end of Key stage two, you may be able to apply for one of these roles. You would need to be confident with the elements of the year 5 and 6 curriculum, including Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar, Mathematics and arithmetic and supporting with high quality writing activities. The roles are full time in school, and are focussed on small group and individual tuition of identified pupils.
The programme is run by TeachFirst, an external organisation, who recruit and train the academic mentors. These are then deployed into schools in the area. South Hiendley has two posts available. The roles are temporary for a year, and attract a competitive salary.
